Health and Disability
Valeport welcomes all legislation designed to protect the rights of people. The Equality Act 2010 defines a person as having a disability if he or she has a physical or mental impairment which has a substantial and long-term adverse effect on his or her ability to carry out normal day to day activities.
In addition, if you are disabled or have a specific health issue, we may ask you about this during interview, to determine whether this may affect your ability to carry out certain essential job specific tasks.
If you require assistance at any stage of the process please contact the Appointing Manager.
Section 7 - Equal opportunities monitoring form
It is the policy of Valeport Ltd to promote equality of opportunity in recruitment, training and promotion of employees. All appointments of employment will be made with reference to the requirements of the post and will not be unfairly influenced by any other consideration such as ethnic origin, age, religion, gender, marital status, sexual orientation or disability.
The information on this form will not be used as part of the recruitment selection process. It will be separated from the rest of your application form before shortlisting takes place. It will be held for at least 6 months and then destroyed unless you are appointed, when it will be used as part of your computerised and/or personnel record. The information may, however, be held on computer software by Valeport as part of our Equal Opportunities monitoring process.
Disability
The Equality Act 2010 says that a person has a disability if they have a physical or mental impairment which has a substantial and long-term adverse effect on their ability to carry out normal day-to-day activities.
People with a disability or a health condition are entitled in law to 'reasonable adjustments' during the recruitment process. We are interested in any disability or health condition that may require such a reasonable adjustment.
You can get further information about the law relating to disability from the Equality & Human Rights Commission. Their telephone number is: 0845 604 6610 or access their website: www.equalityhumanrights.com
Ethnic Origin
This question is to establish the broad ethnic origin of the people who apply for our jobs, rather than citizenship. For example, a UK citizen may fall into any of the ethnic groups listed below.
