Thrilling final for Valeport-sponsored cricket competition

The oldest cup competition in Devon cricket, the Brockman Cup, came to an exciting conclusion when Lustleigh beat Paignton 3rd X1 with six wickets remaining.

Valeport managing director and keen sportsman, Matt Quartley, presented the Brockman Cup to Lustleigh’s winning captain, Mike Wright. Matt also awarded the man-of-the-match trophy to James Fulner who whacked an unbeaten 75 to steer Lustleigh to the 2021 silverware.

The short-form competition sees clubs from all over South Devon compete for the respected cup, which was first donated by the Brockman family in the 1930s. Valeport has been proud to sponsor the Twenty20 Brockman Cup since summer 2020 and is the competition’s first independent sponsor in its 88-year history.

At the final match, Matt was also delighted to present a special award to Brockman Cup chairman, Tim Chapman, on behalf of the competition committee. Tim was honoured with a commemorative tankard in recognition of his service on the competition committee for over 41 years.
