C# Graduate Software Development Engineer

Established in 1969 Valeport is currently a family owned business. Recent years have seen exceptional growth along with relocation to Totnes in Devon. Located on the picturesque river dart, the facilities provide a stunning place to work. We are seeking a recent graduate to enhance the existing software team. The position will be part of a team of 4 within the R&D department. The department is responsible for developing both internal and external software to interface to a range of electronic underwater products that are used across the globe. Also as part of the departments function there is support and development of tools to support the business.

The position will focus on the use of C# but many other packages and languages are used. You will be exposed to developing for PC, Server and mobile devices.

In order to be considered for the role of Software Development Engineer you will have gained the following skills and experience:

  • You will be formally qualified in Software development such as a degree in computer science, (Degree or Equivalent),
  • Good knowledge C#, WPF, MVVM
  • Experience of .NET 4.8, 5.0 and 6.0
  • Good database knowledge using MySQL
  • SVN or similar
  • Experience creating and using UML and Database Entity Relationship diagrams, as well as producing Wireframes
  • Participate in group discussions about requirements and code reviews (both reviewer and reviewee roles)

Desirable & highly advantageous skills:

  • Some experience of PHP web development
  • Delphi knowledge
  • Xamarin / Net Maui mobile development
  • Automated testing
  • The successful applicant will have the ability to self-manage and communicate with internal R&D staff, Test Facilities and directly with the end customers
