Ollie’s off to the Olympics

Posted 24 June 2021  |  News

We are thrilled to hear that local Totnes lad, Ollie Payne, has been selected for the Men’s GB Hockey team for the Tokyo Olympics.

Valeport has followed Ollie’s sporting career closely since we provided the 14-year old rookie goalkeeper with his first goalie kit.

Back in 2013, Ollie made his hockey debut at Totnes-based Dart Hockey Club. Not only was this the club where his parents played, but where several Valeport staff play, including Managing Director, Matt Quartley. Valeport has supported the club for a number of years by sponsoring their kit.

Come on Ollie!

Twenty-Two-year-old Ollie, who started out training once a week and playing weekends in the Men’s 1s at Dart Hockey Club before moving to Exeter University’s team, was called into the senior Great Britain squad in July 2020. He has seen a meteoric rise to the England and GB programmes and will now represent his country in the 2020 Summer Olympics which take place 23 July – 8 August 2021.

We couldn’t be prouder of Ollie. We are delighted to see his success already and we wish him and the GB Hockey team all the very best for the Tokyo Olympics.
