Oli passes his apprenticeship

Posted 17 August 2022  |  Company news

At Valeport we actively encourage a culture that supports our staff to continue to grow and learn, and become experts in their field.

Machine Shop apprentice, Oli Benney, is celebrating after recently achieving the Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering – CNC Machinist and a Level 3 Diploma in Machining.

23-year-old Oli began his apprenticeship at Valeport back in 2018 after deciding he was keen to develop a career in engineering.  First learning his skills on our manual lathes before moving onto our CNC machines,  Oli has made the most of the opportunities that have arisen during his apprenticeship with us.  Oli’s apprenticeship journey saw him spend four days a week learning on the job with advice and coaching from his colleagues in the Machine Shop and one day a week studying at South Devon College.

Since completing his apprenticeship, we are delighted to have offered Oli a permanent full-time position in the Valeport Machine Shop.

Machine Shop Manager, Charlie Russell, who has seen his knowledge and practical skills evolve during the apprenticeship, said: “We are very proud of Oli achieving the Level 3 Diploma.  Oli has been an asset to the department, he has progressed to be a competent, skilled and valuable team member. We look forward to seeing how he develops within the business where there are many opportunities open to him.”

Congratulations Oli.
