Valeport’s Amy wins big at Apprenticeship Awards Ceremony

Posted 11 May 2023  |  News

Congratulations to Valeport's Operations Administrator apprentice Amy Goss, who has not only won the Business and Management Apprentice of the Year 2023, but also the Apprentice of the Year 2023 at the South Devon College Apprenticeship Awards Ceremony.

21-year-old Amy began her apprenticeship with us Valeport in September 2021, after learning about our caring culture and the potential for positive career progression. Amy’s apprenticeship journey saw her spend four days a week with us, learning from her colleagues, and one day a week studying at South Devon College, working towards a City and Guilds Level 3 Diploma. Amy has made the most of the opportunities presented to her during her time with us, and is currently one assignment away from undergoing her End Point Assessment, hoping to complete her apprenticeship in June 2023 – two months earlier than expected!

The South Devon College Apprenticeship Awards, which took place on 3rd May, is an annual celebration of the successes of apprentices in a prestigious awards ceremony with students, staff, local businesses, family and friends. Amy, who attended South Devon College’s Paignton campus, was recognised for the outstanding hard work she put in during her apprenticeship, beating 1,400 other apprentices at South Devon College to earn the top award.

On her apprenticeship and winning the award, Amy said: ‘I’m delighted to have been awarded both Business and Management Apprentice of the Year and the Apprentice of the Year in a lovely evening shared with fellow apprentices, colleagues and my College Coach Assessor. I’m enjoying being at Valeport, and I feel I’ve come a long way, developing skills in everything from the principles of administration to ICT for business. I feel I’ve grown into the role in terms of my confidence, time management and IT skills, and I look forward to continuing my development in my job role and within the company.’

Valeport Managing Director, Matthew Quartley, said: ‘I am a great believer in apprenticeships, and you only have to look through our staff list, both past and present, to see the opportunities that can result from hard work and great training in an on-the-job environment. I hope Amy’s success will inspire all our other apprentices, and that everyone she works with takes pride in her achievement.’
